GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Responsible for reshelving of library materials and for shelf maintenance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (essential)
- Reshelves library materials in all departments including adult, junior and AV
- Performs collection maintenance by straightening materials on shelves and shelf reading.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (secondary)
- May be required to check shelves for overdue books.
- May be required to help shift portions of the collections.
- Schedules vary, but most include evenings and weekends as well as weekday hours.
- Performs other related duties as required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to learn classifications and locations of materials; Ability to organize work and follow through with little or no supervision; Ability to follow written and verbal instructions; Ability to lift and carry documents, books and other library materials weighing up to 20 pounds; Ability to push a full library truck weighing a minimum of 75 pounds over carpet, floor and into and out of the elevator; Ability to reach 6 feet high to obtain and reshelve books and other library materials; Ability to squat and bend to obtain and reshelve books and other library materials; must be able to put away 150 items per hour
Experience and Training: No prior experience required.
Education: Some high school required (minimum age of 14 as per State Law)
Supervision Received: Works under the direction of the Lending Services Manager, Junior Services Librarian or other designated supervisor.
