In Otto Preminger's movie, James Stewart takes on the case of Ben Gazzara, who admits he killed a local bar owner but insists he did it as a result of the victim's rape of his wife, Lee Remick. Stewart's opponent is George C. Scott, in his film debut. Duke Ellington wrote the excellent jazz score.

One Book, One Community Wrap-Up
OBOC

Our first ever One Book, One Community program was a great success. We had over 1,500 attendees at Danbury's 19 events held between October 1 and November 5, including 11 book discussions, 3 movies, a Diwali celebration, a classic Indian dance program, a trip to New York City, and presentations by Suvir Saran, Madhur Jaffrey and Jhumpa Lahiri.
We're aiming to make One Book, One Community 2009 even bigger than this year's, and we're already starting to plan for next year. Do you have any suggestions for next year, or comments about this year's past events? We'd love to hear any book recommendations, program suggestions, or authors you may know to get the ball rolling for next year.
